Have you ever just stood there looking aimlessly and confused into the closet struggling to figure out what outfit to wear for an upcoming job interview? Fellas I do not care how old you are; you must always remember that the first impression is always the most important. Therefore, you must always be mindful that what you wear to an interview creates an image or perception of what type of person you are. That’s why choosing the right attire is very critical in presenting yourself as the right candidate for the job. Interview attire has shifted over the years due to the recession and the lack of trust and uncertainty in our economy. I said it once, and I will say it again, it is very important to know how to dress for success when a job interview presents itself. Hiring managers today are looking for the total package. Being qualified for the position is always great, but looking the part is a major bonus. That’s why today’s job seekers are stepping up their professional attire in a way to differentiate themselves from other candidates. Another tip you should remember is interview attire is seen by others as to how well you are familiar with the company and or the industry you plan to work in. The moral of this story is… DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

Here are 6 helpful tips on how to dress for success...

● Dress in a manner that is professionally appropriate to the position for which you are applying.

● Your suit should be comfortable and fit you well so that you look and act your best.

● Avoid loud colors and flashy ties.

● The appropriate interview attire depends on the industry in which you’ll be interviewing, as well as the geographic location and time of year.

● Spend time on the Internet researching the company/industry to determine what outfit works best for the position you are applying for.

● Still not sure? Call the company’s HR department and ask what they recommend you wear.

Eating Healthy Is A Way Of Life

Although grooming is essential in the life of a Distinguished Gentlemen, healthy eating and living is vital as well.  Our Chef Jesse Bryant has provided some simple, quick and healthy recipes that anyone can make!

Here is a great weeknight dinner that you can whip up in no time.

Sweet Brown Sugar and Orange Crusted Salmon

2 six ounce salmon portions (skin removed)

1 TB brown sugar

½ tsp orange zest

¼ tsp ground cumin

¼ tsp paprika

¼ tsp kosher salt

¼ tsp coriander

1/8 tsp black pepper

Cooking spray

1. Preheat broiler

2. Combine first 8 ingredients in a small bowl.  Rub spice mix over both sides of the salmon.  Spray       cooking spray on a broiler/over safe pan.  Place salmon on the pan and cook for 8 minutes or until       salmon starts to flake with fork.

Chive and Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

10 oz baby red potatoes

1 TB fresh chopped chives

½ minced clove fresh garlic

1 TB butter

2 TB grated Parmesan cheese

¼-1/2 cup fat free milk

1. Place potatoes and garlic in a large saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat;           cover and cook until potatoes are fork tender.

2. Drain well.  Add butter, chives, milk and salt.  Mash to your liking. Stir in Parmesan cheese.

3.  If you want your potatoes creamier, just add 1 TB more of milk and stir

Buttery Garlic Green Beans

5 oz fresh trimmed green bean

1 TB butter

½ clove minced garlic

2 pinches lemon pepper

Pinch of kosher salt

1. Place green beans into large skillet and cover with water; bring to a boil; reduce heat and cook until     beans start to become tender (about 5 minutes).  Drain water. Add butter to green beans; cook and       stir until butter is completely melted.

2. Cook and stir garlic with green beans until fragrant and tender (about 4 minutes).

3. Season with kosher salt and lemon pepper

Not only do we highlight grooming essentials such as our beard oil and conditioner that you might find interesting, but we also point you in the direction of additional products such as a men’s facial scrub and moisturizing lotion.

In a recent meeting for a search of prospective clients, our team at DG Grooming Essentials found ourselves answering an all too familiar question. We had covered the fundamental approach of consumer-centered products, agreed on leading with product research and strategy, and suddenly the question was asked, "Do you think men will buy our products? Do most men see the need? Well, that’s a difficult question to answer.

While the concept of male grooming products isn’t new, we have a philosophy to help prioritize male hygienic needs and ensure positive, without consumer-agnostic experiences, which will result in DG-first, meaning DG-only, for our customers. We believe men can have a polished well-working product for their grooming needs that is high in quality and prestigious in brand effectiveness!

It is our aim to provide a positive experience for those male consumers to result in a primary experience.

We’ve also concluded that DG Grooming Essentials needs to give back to the world it serves. While it is true our company’s grooming essentials design started our journey into male high-quality male care, our journey doesn’t end there!

Here at DG, we have established Generation of Gentlemen which is our non-for-profit arm that reaches out to young men to develop distinguished gentlemen in the areas of faith, finances, and fashion.
